Successful Bar Secrets is a comprehensive bar, restaurant and café management resource.
The aim of this resource is to provide venue owners, operators and managers with strategies, unique methods of thinking and industry ‘pro tips’ that will assist in implementing greater customer service, productivity and profitability techniques in their venues.
This resource provides fresh insights and methodical approaches for strategically, systematically and efficiently operating any bar, pub, club or restaurant bar, as well as customer service, productivity and profitability secrets exploited by some of the industry’s most successful venues. I discuss important elements such as staff culture and its impact on the external reputation of your operation, and I demonstrate high-level approaches to empower you to illuminate, examine and enhance many important aspects of your venue.
I’ve experienced many styles of venue management methods in my career. Some have been excellent, and some have been terrible. I’ve seen mega-nightclubs run terribly, and small cosy wine bars run wonderfully. I’ve seen successful pubs fail under poor management and low-budget student bars explode into popularity due to intelligent marketing and outstanding customer service techniques.
I’m passionate about small business management and I have a passion for optimizing customer service, productivity and profitability techniques.
I like to sit and watch a bar in operation to:
(a) see what makes it tick, and
(b) take the best strategies and use them for myself.
My career has taken me to some extremely well-run and profitable bars, restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs. I also worked in some poorly run places. The difference between the ‘winners’ and the ‘also-rans’ has always fascinated me. Here’s what I’ve discovered about the establishments that make the most money:
- Success is not an accident,
- Systems must be in place,
- Every employee must understand the business and their role in it, and
- Any venue of any size can be highly profitable.
My hospitality journey began over ten years ago in a small, overpriced bar school (ran by a guy called Gary) and I’ve never looked back. I have experience managing many venues (spanning multiple genres) and have had the opportunity to see how many successful (and unsuccessful) bars operate.
